Marquee execution at C.E.I.P. Silleda
***
The works at Silleda Infant and Primary School have expanded the covered area of the school playground, creating a sheltered space for break times and outdoor activities on rainy days. The intervention improves the usability of the playground and provides pupils with a shared area for gathering and playing.
The new marquee, featuring a lightweight structure and an open design, is positioned in front of the building’s main façade. It integrates with the existing covered area while keeping the school entrances and escape routes clear.
The roof, made from 30 mm-thick translucent polycarbonate panels, allows natural daylight to enter while reducing heat transmission, contributing to the comfort of the space.
The works also include the foundations, an earthing system and adaptations to the rainwater drainage network. The project is completed with a polished concrete surface that brings the existing playground and the new covered area to the same level, eliminating changes in level between the two surfaces.
Overall, the project provides 108 m² of additional covered space, improving the functionality of the playground and expanding the range of activities that can take place within the school grounds.
